Jenni Cheek and Brandy Fraley, Pickaway County ESC speech-language pathologists (SLP), presented at the OSSPEAC Community of Practice session this month.

About 30 people — speech-language pathologist mentors and mentees — learned “tips and tricks” for facilitation of group therapy; efficient data collection; and management of challenging behaviors in therapy sessions.

Jenni and Brandy said their goal was to provide attendees with resources, ideas and activities that are “fan favorites” of students and SLPs and suitable for a wide age range.

“The purpose was to assist new school-based SLPs to become more efficient and effective in their provision of services to diverse learners in groups,” Jenni said.

Jenni and Brandy are SLPs with Pickaway County Educational Service Center and based in Teays Valley schools. Jenni works with middle and high school students. She has worked in the field of speech-language pathology for more than 25 years. Brandy works with elementary school students. She has worked in the public school setting as a speech-language pathologist for 14 years.
