The Pickaway County Educational Service Center coordinates the list of substitute teachers for the four school districts in Pickaway County (Circleville City, Logan Elm Local, Teays Valley Local, and Westfall Local).
Requirements which have to be met prior to being placed on the Pickaway County Educational Service Center's List of Substitute Teachers are listed below:
Complete a Substitute Teacher Interest Form indicating personal information (Name, Email Address, Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Address, etc.) and school building preference. Also, complete a Applicant's Statement form.
Provide a copy of a current Ohio Teaching License OR Substitute Teaching License. (Anyone that has a four-year degree is eligible to apply for a substitute teaching license, even if the degree is not in education.) If you need to apply for a substitute teaching license, click on the following link for the application: Substitute Teaching License Application and scroll down the page and click on "Substitute License - Long-Term and Short-Term" . You will need to provide an original transcript(s) showing your bachelor's degree, and a $25 (for a 1 year license) or $125 (for a 5 year license) check or money order payable to "Treasurer, State of Ohio." The application, transcripts and check or money order should be turned in to the Pickaway County ESC for the superintendent's signature and the ESC will send it to the Ohio Department of Education for approval.
Provide a copy of your college transcripts for your substitute personnel file at the ESC. (Photocopy can be made at the ESC)
Provide a copy of a BCI Report and a FBI Report (both within one year). If you need one or both of these reports, you may call the Pickaway County ESC to schedule an appointment for WebCheck Fingerprinting. BCI cost is $30, FBI is $35 or if both are needed, the cost is $60. Payments must be made at the time of the appointment and must be in the form of cash or money order.
Complete and sign an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9 form). Along with this form you will need to either provide two pieces of identification (example: driver's license and social security card or birth certificate) or one piece of identification (such as a unexpired or expired U.S. Passport)to be photocopied. Other acceptable forms of identification are listed on the back of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form.
Complete and sign a declaration regarding material assistance/no assistance to a terrorist organization (DMA Form) form.

If you have or are applying for a substitute teaching license and do not possess a degree in education, you are required to attend a one-time substitute teacher training or supply proof of attendance at a previously held substitute teacher training. Trainings are offered through the School Study Council of Ohio and you may view the dates, locations and the registration instructions at the website listed below:
