SUBSTITUTE EDUCATIONAL AIDES

The Pickaway County Educational Service Center coordinates a list of substitute educational aides for the Pickaway County ESC Preschools and the Brooks Yates School. If you wish to be added to the Logan Elm Local, Teays Valley Local, Westfall Local or Circleville City List of Substitute Educational Aides, please contact the appropriate district(s).

Requirements which have to be met prior to being placed on the Pickaway County Educational Service Center’s List of Substitute Educational Aides are listed below:

Complete and sign a Substitute Educational Aide Application, Payroll and Taxing Information Form and the Social Security Administration Form SSA-1945.

Provide a copy of a current Ohio Educational Aide Permit. If you do not already possess an Ohio educational aide permit and you have the minimum requirement of a high school diploma or GED, you can complete an application for a new one-year educational aide permit – educational aide and make payment online through the Ohio Department of Education. Please be advised that if you are possibly going to be employed or substituting in more than one school district in Pickaway County, you should choose the Pickaway County ESC to have the ESC Superintendent, Ty Ankrom, digitally sign and/or approve the application. When prompted for a superintendent’s signature during the application process, please search by name, Pickaway County ESC or IRN 049072 and scroll down and choose the “Pickaway County ESC”.

NOTE: Some school districts require the ESEA endorsement (highly qualified) on the educational aide permit in order to substitute and/or be employed in their districts. If you do not have an associate degree or higher in order to request the ESEA endorsement and are interested in taking the ParaPro Assessment for Educational Aides so that you can request the ESEA endorsement on your educational aide permit, please contact the Ross-Pike ESC at (740) 702-3120 for more information as to cost, study material and available dates of the test.

You will also be required to provide a copy of a current BCI Report and FBI Report (both within one year) to our office. If you need one or both of these reports, you may call the Pickaway County ESC at (740) 474-7529 to schedule an appointment for WebCheck fingerprinting. BCI cost is $30, FBI is $35, or if both are needed, the cost is $60. Payment must be made at the time of the appointment and must be in the form of cash or money order. BCI and FBI Reports are also required to be submitted as a direct electronic copy to the ODE.

The Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 has to be completed and signed at the ESC office. Along with this form you will need to provide your original document(s) from the “List of Acceptable Documents”, shown on page 3 of the Form I-9 to be examined and photocopied at our office. Examples: one document from List A (US Passport) OR a combination of one document from List B (driver’s license) and one document from List C (social security card OR birth certificate).
