PICKAWAY ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL FOR SUCCESS (PASS)
The Pickaway Alternative School for Success (PASS) serves the four school districts in Pickaway County. Students who face disciplinary action in their home schools are usually given the option of attending PASS in lieu of suspension. Some students are assigned to the school for a few days while others may be there most of the semester. Those assigned on a short-term basis are required to do the work assigned by their teachers with help from the PASS instructors. Students who are assigned to PASS on a long-term basis follow the curriculum established by the PASS board using the county adopted courses of study. These students are also given instruction as preparation for the Ohio Achievement Tests (OAT) and Ohio Graduation Tests (OGT).
William Chesser is the chief administrator for the school and sees that all students follow the established rules. He works with Judge Jan Long of the Juvenile Court with those students who are on probation. The court helps finance the alternative school and has found that it has reduced the case load in the court. Brenda Cassidy is the liaison between the court and the alternative school.

PASS-PLUS
Whereas PASS is designed for those students who are experiencing disciplinary problems, PASS-PLUS is designed for those students who are having academic difficulties but who do not qualify for special education services in their home schools. These are high school students who do not have enough credits to be in the appropriate grade level according to their chronological age. They are enrolled at the alternative school for the entire school year.
The students follow an established curriculum and course of study in order to earn credits for graduation. They are required to take a full complement of courses in the morning and work at various businesses in the afternoon for credit. They are taught both academic and employment skills. The contact telephone number for the PASS-PLUS Program is (740) 420-3426.
